Katie Wilberding joined the Council in June 2023 as a summer intern for the Center on Global Food and Agriculture. She is currently a Junior at UW-Madison studying Political Science and Social Welfare with minors in Public Policy and Gender & Women Studies. She has a passion for advancing human rights through the dynamics of policy, law, and advocacy. She has worked for organizations such as the Collaborative for Reproductive Equity (CORE) and Promoting Awareness Victim Empowering (PAVE). Wilberding conducted extensive field studies, examining attitudes toward reproductive health issues and investigating the impact of different policy approaches. These experiences deepened her understanding of the vital role that evidence-based policy plays in safeguarding reproductive rights and ensuring bodily autonomy. In addition, she has worked as a Clinician at the UW-Madison Family Court Clinic, where she assisted self-represented litigants in navigating the legal system, ensuring improved outcomes and increased understanding of the legal process to empower individuals. She has also worked as a Voting Consultant through Wisconsin's State Capital, led grassroots campaigns to address issues of assault and social inequality on campus, and developed educational workshops on healthy relationships, consent, and violence prevention, fostering a safer and more inclusive campus environment. Wilberding collaborated with University Health Services to implement a progressive program for new student orientations, promoting sexual and dating safety.
