Julie Moos joined the Chicago Council on Global Affairs in October 2022. She leads the Council's editorial startup, Blue Marble, to inform, inspire, and involve the next generation in global change, and she leads the events programming and ChicagoGlobal, a new newsletter with Crain's Chicago Business, to deepen the Chicago community's connection to the world.

Prior to joining the Council, she was executive director of the National Press Club Journalism Institute, where she grew the nonprofit organization's impact and reach to help power journalism in the public interest around the world.

From 2013 through 2018, Julie worked across McClatchy's 30 newsrooms, from Miami to Modesto, coaching editors and leading a real-time team of journalists in driving millions of people monthly to McClatchy products.

Before that, Julie spent 11 years at The Poynter Institute, where she was director of Poynter.org and edited 10 books, including a New York Times bestseller. 

Julie worked at WRAL-TV and in video production after graduating from Barnard College and studying sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

She grew up in Chicago and is a graduate of Francis W. Parker.
