Midwestern Business and Civic Leaders Call for Immigration Reform at DC Summit

Bipartisan Group Offers Recommendations and Outlines Priorities for the Midwest to Ensure U.S. Economic Competitiveness

A diverse and bipartisan group of Midwestern business and civic leaders, aware of the urgency of immigration reform to ensure regional and national economic competitiveness, will release a report capping a 15-month initiative at an immigration summit in Washington on Thursday, February 28. Co-chairs of The Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ task force on immigration and U.S. economic competitiveness, including former Governors Chet Culver and Michael Rounds as well as former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Crate and Barrel Co-Founder Carole Segal, will outline the region’s priorities for reform. They will discuss findings of the report, US Economic Competitiveness at Risk: A Midwest Call to Action on Immigration Reform, from the bipartisan task force comprised of 53 business, government, civic, law enforcement, academic and religious leaders convened by The Chicago Council.
