CEOs, heads of office, and other select C-suite executives from member companies are invited to participate in quarterly meetings co-hosted by Council president Ivo H. Daalder and board cochair Samuel C. Scott III.

These members-only meetings provide an opportunity for business leaders to participate in timely, business-relevant global policy discussions and hear directly from the Council’s bench of experts. They also provide a platform to showcase executive leadership in a room of peers, customers, service providers, and clients.

The American Midwest – long a driver of the nation’s prosperity – possesses tremendous economic assets to build on, as well as unique challenges to overcome, in order to accelerate adaptation of current globalized, knowledge, and technology-driven economy.

On December 16, John Austin, senior fellow on the global Midwest, will lead a conversation on the Midwest region’s economic strengths and challenges; and actions local, state, and national leaders can take to accelerate growth and spread opportunity to more Midwest businesses, communities, and residents. Austin will explore how key economic drivers like the Midwest’s unrivaled university network and investments in emerging sectors and new technologies can be best supported by state and local leaders, and through federal policy in this important political battleground.
