Jenny Cizner, former director of strategic partnerships and global affairs for the City of Chicago, today joined The Chicago Council on Global Affairs as its first-ever chief operating officer.

“I am excited to welcome Jenny to The Chicago Council,” said Ambassador Ivo H. Daalder, president of the Council.  “As we look ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2022, the Council is growing in size and ambition. We are broadening and deepening our policy expertise on issues of global concern, organizing more than 200 events a year with speakers from around the world to discuss the hot global topics of the day and launching the inaugural Chicago Forum on Global Cities this May.  With her deep experience with the city’s international affairs and in management positions at the White House, Jenny is the perfect person to ensure our internal organization is well matched to support this external growth.”

In her previous position, Cizner worked to cultivate and strengthen connections between the City of Chicago and the international community and to advance Chicago’s international profile.  She earlier served as director of international relations and protocol for Mayor Rahm Emanuel from June 2011 to February 2014.

Prior to her work with the City of Chicago, Cizner served as the deputy chief of staff for presidential personnel at the White House and first joined the White House as the director for the energy and environment cluster within that office.  Before joining the administration, Cizner worked on President Obama’s 2008 campaign committee.  From 2001 to 2007, she was a senior associate at Campaign Finance Consultants, a fundraising consulting firm in Washington, DC.

Cizner graduated with a B.A. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
