State of the World's Mothers

Join The Chicago Council, the International Women Associates, and the Chicago Foundation for Women for a discussion of the 15th State of the World’s Mothers report from Save the Children.

The world has made great progress in reducing child mortality – the number of children dying every year is down from 12 million in 1990 to 6.6 million in 2012. But progress is being slowed by conflict and humanitarian emergencies. Many countries with the poorest maternal health and the highest instances of child mortality have suffered recent conflicts or a major natural disaster. Preventing these conflicts and reducing vulnerability requires collaborations between governments and the humanitarian community. How does the international community deliver health care and nutrition to internally displaced persons, refugees and communities more effectively?
