Immigration policy and its implications for national security has nearly dominated the 2016 presidential election campaigns and debates. While there are many links between these policy areas, today’s partisan climate has prevented a constructive dialogue on actual threats and how reforms could strengthen the country’s security. What are the future risks—and benefits--of possible reforms? How should policymakers balance their concerns for threats with pragmatic solutions?
