The Arctic holds the potential to be the next great frontier for private investment. New technologies and a political environment more willing to look domestically to meet America’s energy needs have enabled the discovery and development of previously inaccessible reserves of fossil fuels and other natural resources. Simultaneously, the opening of the Northwest Passage has presented a momentous opportunity for global logistics and Arctic investment. With these opportunities, however, come significant environmental challenges, policy concerns, and geopolitical risks. Please join The Chicago Council with Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell of Alaska for an in-depth discussion of the opportunities and challenges for private investment in the Arctic.
