Inaugural Lester Crown Distinguished Lecture on US Foreign Policy
From Marine recruit, to Four Star General and Secretary of Defense, General Jim Mattis has witnessed the transformation of the United States’ national security outlook since the end of the Cold War. Protecting the nation and its global interest in this rapidly changing threat environment has required that the US military continually evolve its training, technology, and tactics, and Mattis’ career at the heart of this process has shaped his leadership philosophy. He joins Council President Ivo Daalder to share these lessons, and his perspective on the nation’s national security priorities.
