'The Economist' Editor-In-Chief on Brexit

While United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged that Brexit would occur on October 31, the recent Supreme Court ruling that his prorogation of parliament was unlawful now lessens the likelihood of a “no deal” departure.  As the potentially most momentous weeks in the UK’s postwar political history rapidly approaches, The Economist’s editor-in-chief, Zanny Minton Beddoes, joins the Council’s Brian Hanson to discuss the transformation of the UK’s political and constitutional landscape since the 2016 referendum. This members-only lunch conversation will consider the remaining obstacles to a “no deal” departure, and what Brexit on those terms would mean for the UK, the European Union, and the wider global economy.
