Sonia Gabrielson

Sonia Gabrielson became chief of staff to a BMO Financial Group Vice Chair in April 2018. In this role, she identifies and facilitates business connections for all operating groups, including capital markets, personal and commercial banking, and wealth management. Gabrielson also engages in thought leadership activities to reinforce and expand BMO’s corporate missions.

Previously, Gabrielson was a member of BMO Capital Markets Securitization line of business. During her tenure with the securitization group, Gabrielson played a key role in the successful launch of BMO Capital Markets new asset-backed bond underwriting and distribution platform. She developed and managed critical operational components for the platform, acting as the point person to coordinate priorities between clients, rating agencies, underwriters, and legal teams.

Gabrielson holds a BA in theatre and psychology from UIC and an MBA with concentrations in banking, leadership, and change management from DePaul University. She served as treasurer for the UIC Theatre & Music Alumni Association from 2013 to 2019. During that time, Gabrielson worked to establish and fully endow a scholarship fund in honor of the UIC production manager whose teachings had a meaningful impact on shaping her career.
