Ryan Blackney

Ryan Blackney is an associate in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group and the Bankruptcy and Financial Restructuring Group and is a member of the Fraud and Internal Investigations Team. He specializes in commercial and bankruptcy litigation and focuses especially on commercial fraud, fraudulent transfers, and objection to discharge adversary proceedings in bankruptcy court. Before joining Freeborn, Blackney was an assistant state’s attorney for eight years. From 2007 to 2011, he was a special prosecutor for McHenry County, Illinois. As a special prosecutor, he handled the most high-profile crimes in McHenry County. Prior to working at McHenry County, Blackney was an assistant state’s attorney in DuPage County for nearly three years. He has had experience trying over 200 cases, including personally handling 50 jury trials. He has also litigated over 100 evidentiary motions.
