Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra discussed progress toward gender equality around the world with a Council audience last month. We sat down one-on-one with her to inquire what question she hoped the audience would ask. Find out what she said.
"One question that I like to be asked is: How is it that I got from being an engineer to being the chief diplomat of Argentina? And I like that question but because it shows that there are many opportunities in life that you don't even envision when you start university, and that you really need to be open, very open-minded to seize those opportunities. I always like to tell this to young people because sometimes people get very stuck on what they said that they're going to study, how they plan their lives, and I feel that is very important to plan, but it's also very important to give yourself the chance to change the child, the chance to seize the new opportunities, to take that train that is there in the train station and go and surf the waters of opportunity."
