Weather Centers to Arm Central Africa's Farmers against Climate Shifts
Farmers across Central Africa continue to fall prey to changing climate patterns, leading to the failure of their crops and devastating drops in income. In response, environment and climate experts in April announced the creation of the Central African Meteorological Center, a new hydro-meteorological hub that will capture weather and climate data and disseminate the information to farmers and other users.

Five Approaches to Feeding the World While Sustaining the Planet
Introducing conservation agriculture, integrated pest management, agroforestry systems and agro-ecology—those FAO initiatives unite sustainable agriculture practices and use of natural resources. Founded on an ecosystem approach to intensifying crop production, they provide evidence that increasing yield and the incomes of the poorest and most vulnerable does not need to come at the expense of the planet.

In International Aid, People Should Be Seen as Consumers Not 'Beneficiaries'

Edible Insects as an Integrated Component of Sustainable Food Systems
While edible insects have misleadingly been touted as a silver bullet solution to sustainable provision of animal-source foods, they do present a wealth of opportunities for improving nutritional status. Many rural and indigenous people, often those living in the global South, have close relationships with a wide variety of edible insect species for economic, as well as medicinal, ecological, agronomical, and cultural purposes.
