The Chicago Forum


Since its inception, The Chicago Council has provided a distinguished, nonpartisan forum in Chicago for world leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss issues of national and international importance. More than 150 public and leadership events each year offer Chicago Council members and the public insights on current international developments and global issues. 

Chicago and the World Forum 
Features leading national and international experts presenting a variety of perspectives on a specific theme for a series of public programs.

Corporate Programs
Offer Chicago’s business community access to U.S. and international government officials and experts who provide timely, relevant information on international trade, economics, and business challenges. 

Emerging Leaders Program
Identifies individuals who will equip Chicago to compete and thrive in the global era to participate in a two-year program, which culminates with a group report on a topic pertinent to Chicago’s future.

Global Chicago
Focuses on enhancing Chicago’s strengths as a global city, and raises awareness – both here and abroad – of Chicago’s international connections.

Global Economy Series
Programs in the series offer exceptional educational opportunities for the general public and executives alike to make sense of pressing economic issues.

Middle East Forum
Forum programs focus on most important political, social, and economic issues affecting the rapidly chaning greater Middle East.

Named Lectures and Series
Feature prominent speakers in annual events or series funded by individual philanthropists, foundations, or corporations.

Policy and Business Roundtables
Provide unique opportunities for selected individuals to participate in small-format discussions with leading experts, corporate executives, and national and international policymakers.

President’s Circle Programs

Offer Council leadership members and top donors greater interaction and in-depth experiences with experts and leaders whose views help shape the world.

Public Programs

Cover a wide variety of topics including U.S. foreign policy, and critical global issues such as migration, economics and trade, and agricultural development.

Visiting Fellowships
Bring emerging leaders from around the world to Chicago to exchange ideas and share their insights with the city’s top civic, academic, nonprofit, and corporate leaders.

Women and Global Development Forum
Explores the central role of women in international development efforts by governments, NGOs, philanthropies, and businesses. 

World Leaders Forum
Provides a nonpartisan forum in Chicago for world leaders to speak to public audiences about the critical issues of the day.

Young Professionals Programs
Bring together under-40 Chicagoans, from diverse academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds, who want to network and discuss current global issues.
