Data recently released by the Federal Reserve noted that the embattled U.S. manufacturing sector is outpacing the rest of the economy by 3-to-1. U.S. manufacturing, for the first time in decades, has emerged as the strongest sector in the economy and a star in the slow economic recovery. Join The Chicago Council on Global Affairs for a panel discussion with leading experts on this revival, key risk factors to sustained growth, and the prospects for a wave of reinvestment in American manufacturing. 

Dave Beebe David Beebe is vice president – manufacturing operations for Navistar, Inc., a division of Warrenville, Ill.-based Navistar International Corporation, one of the world’s leading truck and diesel engine manufacturers. Beebe is responsible for overall manufacturing operations for the company’s Truck Group.

Prior to his current assignment, Beebe also served as assistant general manager for the Bus Vehicle Center, charged with the daily operations of the Bus Vehicle Center and a leadership role in business strategy and implementation.
   
Chad Moutray Chad Moutray is chief economist for the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), where he serves as the NAM’s economic forecaster and spokesperson on economic issues. Prior to joining the NAM, Dr. Moutray was the chief economist and director of economic research for the Office of Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) from 2002 to 2010.
 
William A. Strauss

William A. Strauss is a senior economist and economic advisor in the economic research department at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago where he analyzes the current performance of both the Midwest economy and the manufacturing sector for use in monetary policy.

is a senior managing director and chief economist for Mesirow Financial and is frequently called upon by policymakers and business leaders from Washington to Tokyo. In addition, Diane sits on several advisory committees to the Federal Reserve, its regional banks and the Council of Economic Advisers for the White House.
