The Chicago Council, DePaul University, and the Poynter Institute Will Host Workshop for Regional Reporters in Advance of G8 and NATO

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs has been named as part of a grant from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation to a Special Reporting Institute (SRI) for Midwestern journalists covering the G8 and NATO summits in Chicago this spring.

The McCormick Foundation’s grant to the Poynter Institute, totaling $710,000, will fund seven of these SRIs, or journalism training workshops, as well as Webinars and other online resources, around the nation over the next two years. The Chicago Council, Poynter, and DePaul University will host one of these sessions, devoted to summit coverage, in Chicago on March 19-21.

Details can be found at www.poynter.org/training. Chicago Council Senior Fellow Richard Longworth will guide the selection of speakers and topics for this SRI. Journalists from newspapers and other media around the Midwest will be chosen to take part in this SRI.
