Despite the global challenges of the last 18 months, the support and engagement of our President’s Club and Leadership members have remained unwavering and sustained us. As the Council enters its second century, we are optimistic about the next 100 years thanks to your continued partnership. From all of us — thank you, we’ve missed you, and we’re thrilled to see you!

Join us in person or virtually for a thank you event held in our upgraded Conference Center to reconnect with new and familiar faces, learn about our Centennial plans with Council President Ivo Daalder, and engage in conversation with fellow experts on the major global events that shaped 2021 and what risks and opportunities lie ahead for 2022.

About the Speakers
President, Chicago Council on Global Affairs

Ivo H. Daalder served as the US ambassador to NATO from 2009 to 2013 prior to becoming president of the Council. Previously, he was a senior fellow in foreign policy studies at the Brookings Institution and served as director for European affairs on President Bill Clinton’s National Security Council. He is the author or editor of ten books.

Council staff Elizabeth Shackelford
Elizabeth Shackelford, former career US diplomat, joined the Council in January 2021. Her work focuses on building awareness and understanding of a "restraint" approach to foreign policy, which seeks to limit the use of military force to the defense of core US national security interests and favors robust diplomatic engagement.

Nonresident Senior Fellow, Public Opinion and Foreign Policy
Council expert Daniel W. Drezner
Daniel W. Drezner is a nonresident senior fellow of public opinion and foreign policy at the Council. He’s currently a professor of international politics at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, and the author of "Spoiler Alerts" at The Washington Post.

Elise Labott is an adjunct professor at American University’s School of International Service and a columnist at Foreign Policy. As a correspondent for CNN for two decades, she covered seven secretaries of state and reported from more than 80 countries.
