Generous support from members, local and national foundations, and Chicago’s top civic, corporate, and philanthropic leaders makes it possible for the Council to organize and host more than 150 public and leadership programs each year, bringing some of the world’s most powerful decision makers to the city. Contributions also enable the Council to convene task forces, study groups, and conferences, which amplify the voice of Chicago and the Midwest in global discussions of today’s most critical issues.
As an independent, nonpartisan, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, The Chicago Council on Global Affairs ensures its financial viability through a variety of funding sources, including:

Annual Fund Contributions
Gifts to the Annual Fund are another way to support the Council’s activities and are fully tax deductible to the extent permitted by law. The Chicago Council depends on generous Annual Fund contributions to support its public education mission. Donate now.

Membership Contributions

While most Council programs are open to the public, becoming a member of The Chicago Council offers a variety of benefits and provides important financial support to the organization. President’s Circle, Directors’ Circle, and Chairman’s Circle

Individuals who demonstrate their commitment to The Chicago Council and its mission with annual membership contributions of $1,000 or more enjoy exclusive benefits and expanded access to all we do. The President’s Circle, Directors' Circle, and Chairman's Circle are comprised of civic and community leaders who support the Council at the highest levels. Learn more.

Global Leadership Awards Dinner

At this annual fundraising event, The Chicago Council honors distinguished individuals for their outstanding achievements in international relations, global thought leadership, and philanthropy. Awards honor international, national, and Chicago leaders in world affairs. Individual tickets and tables are available. Request an invitation.

Global Connections Dinner Series

This series of fundraising dinners, hosted by members of the Council’s Board of Directors, Chairman’s Circle, and Directors’ Circle in their homes or other private venues, provides opportunities for intimate conversations with experts and visiting dignitaries. Request an invitation.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer matching gift programs to encourage employees to contribute to nonprofit organizations. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift! Learn more.

Sponsorship

Corporate sponsors of Chicago Council programs enjoy visibility, priority access to exclusive events, and opportunities to interact with experts, high-level executives, civic leaders, and U.S. and foreign government officials. Several sponsorship opportunities are available, including head of state/foreign government official events, public lectures, conferences, and program series. Planned Giving

The Chicago Council on Global Affairs also derives support from Planned Giving contributions made via a bequest or endowment. Planned Giving may offer certain tax advantages.
